The peripheral shareholders of Yahoo are FMR Corporation, David Filo, Jerry Yang and Terry S. Semel with a share percentage of 12.5, 7.9, 6.7 and 1.2 percent respectively.
Yahoo was started as a hobby by two Stanford students. Jerry used to compile different websites and initiated the idea as “Jerry’s Guide to the World Wide Web”. The commercialization of Yahoo began in the year 1995, when the founders started selling ads. As the website grew, it started acquiring other companies in 1997 and until now, Yahoo has acquired around 114 companies. The headquarters of the company is located in Sunnyvale, California. Currently, Yahoo has 8,500 and has a total revenue of 1.31 Billion per year.

The latest acquisition by the Yahoo is Polyvore, which is a social commerce website. Yahoo’s largest acquisition so far is Broadcast.com, an internet based radio service. The company acquired it for $5.7 Billion. This made the founder of Broadcast a billionaire.
